Mix your own calming soundscape from twelve original, generated sounds — rain, ocean, wind, noise, drones and more. Start with a preset, then make it yours. Nothing is pre-recorded; every sound is created live in your browser.
Fades out gently, then stops.
The mix drifts slowly so it never feels static.
A visual guide to slow your breath.
The Sound Studio is our in-house instrument for calm — a generative soundscape engine that builds relaxing sound in real time, right in your browser. There are no recordings and no loops to wear thin: each layer is synthesized live, so your soundscape is effectively endless and never repeats exactly. Mix as many or as few layers as you like, lean on a preset, or build something entirely your own.
The engine is organized into three families. Noise covers the classic colors of noise — white, pink, and brown — each useful for masking distraction and easing into sleep. Nature recreates the textures we instinctively find calming: rain, ocean swell, wind, a flowing stream, and occasional birdsong, the soundscapes we explore in nature sounds for relaxation. Tonal adds musical warmth: a slow ambient drone pad, a deep sub hum, gentle chimes, and an optional binaural layer.
Not sure where to start? Each preset is tuned for a purpose and linked to the guide that explains the evidence behind it — Deep Sleep, Focus, Deep Calm, Meditation, and more. They're starting points, not rules: the best soundscape is the one you find calming, so adjust freely.
Three helpers do the thinking for you. The sleep timer fades the sound out gently and stops it — far better for sleep than audio playing all night, as we cover in the best music for sleep. Auto-evolve slowly drifts the mix so long sessions stay alive rather than looping. And the breathing pacer gives you a calm visual to slow your breath — pairing slow breathing with sound is one of the fastest ways to relax, as explained in music for stress relief.
We built this to be genuinely useful, not magical. The calming effect of generated sound comes from masking distraction, steadying your attention, and supporting slow breathing — not from secret frequencies. The binaural layer in particular is included for those who enjoy it, but the science behind brainwave "entrainment" is mixed; read our evidence-first take before relying on it. As always, this is for relaxation and general wellbeing, not medical treatment.
Yes — it runs entirely in your browser, free, with no account and no downloads. All sounds are generated live and originally, so there are no copyrighted recordings involved.
Browsers require a tap or click before any site can play audio. Press the play button once and the soundscape begins; after that you can mix freely.
Yes. Use the Deep Sleep preset and set the sleep timer so the sound fades out gently after you drift off, rather than playing all night.
